Middle Wisconsin’s FREE Concert for Public Schools & Students is a community-based and non-partisan effort to show and gather support for public education — here where we live, and all over our state. With recent statewide financial cutbacks for public education and the proposed shift toward more public funding of private charter schools and private school voucher programs, our local public schools and our children face unprecedented uncertainties.
We are gathering on Wausau’s 400 Block at Noon on June 15, 2013 to celebrate Wisconsin’s proud tradition of public education, to seek support from citizens and our government officials, and to help promote fairness and stability for public schools, teachers and students. The event will include performances by four bands; a variety of speakers will be invited; various food vendors; and community service organizations will be invited to set up information and activity booths.
Middle Wisconsin will be capturing the event on video and will produce a documentary movie for public distribution (i.e., youtube, news media, organizations).
